The company was started in 1967 and today is a proud member of the Plennegy Group. Mascor is a supplier of mechanised agricultural solutions, fuel and vehicles.
Amongst the brands that Mascor represents are industry leaders like, John Deere Ag equipment, Stihl, Kverneland through Jupidex. Vehicle franchises include Toyota, n powered by fuel brands including Sasol, Puma and Caltex.
A network of more than 20 branches across KZN and Eastern Mpumalanga secures Mascor’s presence and offers customers easy access to the services and products they offer. A team of more than 40 sales staff sell products backed up by a team of over 80 qualified technicians and support staff. State of the art equipment and technology ensures that repairs and maintenance are carried out accurately.
The relationship between Mascor and John Deere spans over more than 4 decades and today Mascor is the only supplier of John Deere sugar equipment in South Africa as well as the only supplier of all John Deere agricultural equipment in KZN and Eastern Mpumalanga. Mascor has been awarded John Deere’s prestigious Dealer of the year award for the last two years and still strive to improve and add value to our customer network.
Mascor has restructured their management to add focus and specialised knowledge in key areas. Departmental heads for sales, service, parts, motor and fuel gives specialist input in these fields and focus to drive their individual departments to better performance. In addition to this Mascor has also appointed regional managers for each of its regions. These managers offer a holistic approach to the management of their regions and assist branch managers with improving efficiencies. Together with the departmental managers they form the core of management that supports the CEO, Mr Bill Comins, and his two executive directors.
Mascor’s tractor market share has grown from 22% to over 50% while at the same time improving their satisfied customer index (CSI) to the highest of any John Deere dealer in South Africa. Vehicle market shares are also well above national norms and in most regions Mascor are market leaders with the brands they represent.
These improvements, as well as investment from Mascor’s shareholders, have allowed for expansion and has seen the company acquire the John Deere franchise for Uganda in East Africa. Operations started there in October 2014 and marks the first official business for Mascor outside of South Africa. Newly acquired franchises like Burger King and Debonairs and expansions of current brands like Stihl and John Deere, promises exciting times ahead for Mascor and its customers.
